Colourpop 'foxy' ultra matte lip review

Hi all!,

This week I am writing about my recent purchase of the Colourpop foxy collection of 5 stunning mini ultra matte liquid lipsticks.
First up as always a bit about the brand!
ColourPop was born, raised and made with love in the City of Angels. Founded in 2014 by Seed Beauty, they pride themselves on being wallet friendly and bunny approved.
Colourpop's products are tested in the nicest way possible, leaving fur babies to be fur babies and experimenting on people instead (the people at ColourPop HQ to be exact!).

Beeper- warm mid-tone taupe
Clueless- dusty mauve pink
Tulle- dusty mauve burgundy
Creeper- true classic blue red
More Better- deep violet wine
If you would love to check out the colourpop website click here. They have amazing swatches of this collection on different skin tones, they are all so flattering!

Application tips
Make sure your lips are bare, dry, and exfoliated for the smoothest finish. Apply a matching lip pencil for a precise and perfected application. Next, apply Ultra Matte Lip with the applicator or your favorite lip brush. It's suggested to store these babies upright and shake before application!
This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips leaving SUPER intense colour with a bold, ultra matte finish. It's very long wearing and completely kiss proof!
So these are they first lip products/any products I have purchased from Colourpop. I have very much enjoyed them so far but for sure have to be in the right mood. I find that if my lips are even a tad dry that I cannot handle having these on, but that goes for any matte lip product.

These I purchased without any lip liners (I have since purchased matching lip liners) and I can apply them reasonably ok without lip liner's but it is difficult and is not overly neat, it would be better with lip liners!. Since purchasing a few liners I have not actually applied these again ( But I will). To be honest everyone, I have purchased so so many lip products lately that I am struggling to go through them all on rotation to try....that sounds just awful! Do you have that problem to??!?
They do dry to a complete matte and are transfer proof, they will last all day through food and drink if you want them to . I personally cannot wear matte lipsticks for a 8 hour work day because I am talking so so much in my job it just starts to get uncomfortable for me.
I love the intense pigment of the colour of these and cannot wait to try out the rest of the range of satin lips, glossy lips, and more matte lips plus all of the liners that I have recently purchased.
Have you got this collection or other colourpop products? Let me know down below if you have or anything else you might suggest! I would so love to hear from you and get some response of your thoughts, also like this post if you would love to see more Colourpop!

Nyx butter gloss review

Happy weekend everyone!

Today I wanted to spread my love on the nyx butter gloss! As you all know I am a giant fan of the nyx cosmetics line and these are my most beloved product so far out of there range.

These are so easy to wear, and very nourishing on the lips. If I do not take care this does end up on my teeth which is a bit of a pain but its a simple fix as just being careful with application and also taking the time to do the few tricks I know to avoid this getting on my teeth.
This will last all day if left alone, which of course is really impossible because we need to eat and drink! While eating and drinking it 100% will transfer onto your food & cups, but that is ok!

There are so far 34 shades in the range but I am sure so many more are coming out! The shades available are:
Angel food cake - Mauve
Apple Strudel - Peach
Blackberry Pie - Black
Cherry cheese cake - Orange
Cherry Pie - Red
Cotton candy - Pink with a blue undertone
Cranberry Biscotti - Deep berry
Creme Brulee - Natural
Cupcake - Hot pink
Devils food cake - Deep plum
Eclair - Pink
Fortune cookie - Nude
Gelato - Purple
Ginger snap - Chocolate brown
Madeleine - Mid tone nude
Maple blondie - Deep peach
Merengue - Pink lilac
Peach cobbler - Red-orange
Peach crisp - Peach
Peaches and cream - Pink coral
Pink buttercream - Coral with a pink undertone
Praline - Deep nude
Raspberry pavlova - Red brown
Raspberry tart - Violet
Red velvet - Deep red
Red wine truffle - Burgundy
Strawberry cheesecake - Warm pink
Strawberry jam - Strawberry red
Strawberry parfait - Fuchsia
Sugar cookie - Bright fuchsia
Sugar plum - Lavender
Sunday Mimosa - Light peach
Tiramisu - Brown
Vanilla cream pie - Mauve

To visit the nyx website click here

Eclair
This is a stunning pink. It is wonderful and more of a natural tone pink and would look stunning on every skin shade. This is another gloss that looks great with or without makeup and doesn't look out of place either way.

Angle food cake
This is my favorite shade that I own out of this range and my favorite general nyx lip product. It is a mauve color and I wear this one most days and am going through this one fast! This shade is very close to my own lip color so I find it looks really nice and evens out the color of my lips and actually makes them look bigger!

Apple strudel
This is a stunning peach gloss! I love the way this looks with a summer dress and simple makeup.

Cherry pie
This is a wonderful true red. I have not been able to fit this into my normal day to day makeup as I do not feel I suit red lips! It is so so stunning!

Creme Brulee
This is a wonderful natural color on the lips and goes with majority of makeup looks. I find this is a great shade for my skin tone when I am not tanned or even if I have no makeup on. It doesn't wash me out a lot which is a big problem I normally have with light pink lip products.

Make sure to check out the website as they show all of the colors and they are so so beautiful. I cannot wait to get more of these but I have such a nyx obsession I think I may have to wait a bit longer, my makeup collection is growing a lot!

So as you would have gathered these are a gloss finish on the lips which looks great and is very flattering on most lip shapes. The colors come off as very sheer with a small amount of pigment to them. So if you are wanting a full look these wont work for you but I find these are the best product for my lips on a day to day basis because they are so easy to remove without a mirror and if you are a busy person like me that will really sell you on a product!

Well that is it for this week! I really hope you have enjoyed this weeks post and come back next week for more!

Goodness chia seed grab and go kit review

Hi everyone!

So today I am so excited to bring to my blog a few items from the goodness range!

I am new to this brand so decided to purchase the grab and go kit which is a great idea to let someone really give the products a go before investing in full sizes. I purchased my set for NZ $24.99.

A bit about the goodness brand if you are not familiar . They are natural & vegan-friendly. Something I love is that they do no animal testing on there products and also made in New Zealand. And they use certified organic chia seed oil which has so many great quality's for your skin!

Goodness products are available in Australia and New Zealand and I hope eventually they will be available world wide. The people that made this wonderful brand also made the trilogy natural skincare and the Ecoya range. I have never tried the trilogy range but I just adore the Ecoya range, I actually didn't know that they were behind all these different products!

Another thing that really sold me on the goodness range in that they have the NZ best in beauty award. So if all the above things didn't pull you to love them that really should, its a big achievement to have that!

Below is what I got and how I am finding them so far.

Every Day Cream Cleanser (20ml)
With all the goodness of apple extract, chia seed, avocado and coconut oils. I really enjoy this as an everyday gentle face wash. I have sensitive skin and have had no issues at all with this.

Every Week Face Scrub (10ml)
With all the goodness of powdered pumice, chia seed, avocado and coconut oils. I have only tried this twice since purchasing and while its not my favorite product out of the range it is a more gentle exfoliating type face wash I own which is nice for the times when I am having a bad skin flare up and cannot take the more intense products.

Certified Organic Chia Seed Oil (5ml)
I’ve got the balance of omega 3 to omega 6 essential fatty acids just right. I love this! This is really one of my favorite products I own. I can apply this on its own to hydrate my skin or add it to any moisturiser for that little bit extra I might need.

Every Morning Moisturiser (20ml)
With all the nourishing goodness of bilberry and hibiscus extracts, chia seed, avocado and coconut oils. This is a wonderful moisturiser and I very much enjoy using. It is thin and lightweight so is completely fine to use under makeup and is hydrating enough that it gives me enough to last all day without my skin getting dry and sore.

Every Evening Cream (25ml)
With all the goodness of honeysuckle flower extract, chia seed, avocado and coconut oils. I use this most out of all of the products in this kit. I like to use an oil twice a week on my skin at night time then the rest of the time this is what I use. I find this gives me a lot of hydration to my skin and is great for sensitive skin.

Visit the goodness natural beauty lab here.

Have you tried this brand or similar products? let me know!

Well that is it for this week!

Have a wonderful week everyone.

L.A girl pressed powder review

Hi all,

This weeks post is on the L.A Girl pressed powder! This is the cheapest pressed powder I have ever purchased at NZ $9.04 which is an absolute bargain.

L.A girl cosmetics can be purchased all over the world and is a brand that is really starting to make an impact. You can find a product for every step of your makeup look in there range. They are also cruelty free which is great!

This pressed powder can also be purchased for USD $7 for any American readers. There is also 18 shades in the range which is such a great thing to see a brand do. It can be so hard to find the perfect shade sometimes so that makes it a bit easier.

What I was looking for: The main thing that I look for especially for powders is that it helps reduce shine. Since I have oily skin this is a big thing for me because I do not always want to try and blot and fix up my make up throughout the day. Since this is designed for a matte finish this gets a big tick for what I want!

My first impression: On first application I noticed that the powder is very creamy and silky. It comes with a little puff but I find it evens out my complexion more if applied with a brush and buffing it into my skin. It doesn't appear to clog pores which is an added bonus and looks extremely natural & lightweight so would be great for everyday use.

Can it be built up? This is another thing that I had to consider. Can it be buildable enough that it can work well for everyday work use. So far its good, I have not used it to a thick coverage but its been very easy to get it to a medium but natural pigment on the skin.
This little compact comes with a puff applicator and a mirror so would also be perfect to keep in your bag.

If you would like to check out the L.A Girl NZ website click here.

Also I have now joined Bloglovin which displays my social media and also my other blog! Make sure to check it out and follow!
Do you have a favorite powder or makeup product you cant live without? Let me know below!

That is all this week everyone, have a lovely weekend and week!

Setting sprays: NYX vs L.A girl

Hi all!,

Welcome all to my blog! Today's post is something a little different that I am interested in maybe doing more often. It may be products with similar uses or even dupes of makeup products!

This weeks post is going to be about two matte setting sprays I have come across recently, maybe one or even both will be available to you in your city!

Nyx matte finish long lasting setting spray vs L.A girl pro H.D setting spray with matte finish.

Nyx: available in a matte and dewy finish spray
L.A girl: Available in a matte finish spray

Nyx's promises : Demand perfection! For that fresh makeup look that lasts, the NYX Makeup Setting Spray - Matte is a gorgeous shine-free matte finish that is lightweight and comfortable while working hard to make sure your makeup stays put.

L.A girl's promises: To keep that matte finish of freshly applied makeup, mist evenly with PRO Setting Spray after makeup has been applied. The lightweight, non-sticky formula sets makeup for all day wear. The ultra-fine mist is refreshing and dries quickly setting makeup to help you stay beautiful longer. Paraben and fragrance free.Helps keep makeup last longer. Natural matte finish

Cost:
Nyx: $19.45 NZD 60ml
L.A girl: $15.99 NZD 30ml

I have worn both of these setting sprays ALOT , every day that I have worn makeup have had one of these on also.

My aim to be able to find products that are similar in price and similar in function as I know completely what it is like to not be able to find products you desperately want in your city but do not like the thought of purchasing things online that you do not know what are like. Keep in mind these are just my own thoughts and you will also be able to find many a reviews on these products!

Nyx
I managed to get the smaller sized sample of this setting spray at a Nyx launch and I felt so lucky! This spray sits wet on the skin for about 1 minute then it sets on the face unnoticeable. I find it does make a difference in my makeup that it looks matte once this is dry on the face. During the day it takes about 5 hours then I notice I am getting oily again around the t-zone. A quick blot and touch up with some form of matte power and my face is back to being matte again. Towards the end of the day after 9 hours use I still have majority of the makeup I started on with which is amazing. This helps the longevity of my makeup more than anything else I have used.
To view this setting spray click here

L.A girl
I purchased this right after I received my Nyx setting spray as I was very curious about other setting sprays and this was on sale so I thought well why not! I enjoy this spray a lot, it takes a bit longer to set on my face , about 3 minutes. When it drys it is completely unnoticeable visibly and also to touch. It takes about 3 hours before I notice that I am getting oily again so I blot and touch up as normal but need to do so another 3 hours later. I normally wont blot more than twice a day as I do not have time at work to do that! At the 9 hour mark what I am at home I do not have as much makeup left as I would using the Nyx setting spray but still more than what I would have without any setting spray at all. So in my books this is completely still worth getting.
To view this setting spray online click here

Overall comparison:
Both setting sprays boast the same promises about making your makeup last longer, stay matte & perfectly lightweight to make your face feel just as comfortable as it was without the setting spray. Both to me do all of the things promised, one maybe has some other ingredients to help with the shine free aspect but other than that these are extremely similar. The Nyx is technically cheaper per ml but if you are looking to spend as little money as possible right now then the l.a girl setting spray would be your choice.

I love what both of these do for me, I use them both equally as I enjoy what outcome they both have . I would repurchase both but will most likely get just what I run out of first and stick with that from now on.

Have you got products you love that you would love me to find a comparison or dupe for? I would love to find more things so let me know!

That is all for now everyone! Have a lovely week

NYX blush and contour duo palette

Hi All,

Today I bring to my wonderful blog the Nyx blush and contour duo palette.

There are 6 Shades available and it costs around $9 US. They range from the following duos:
Cheek on Cheek
Double date
Perfect match
Two to tango
Ginger & pepper
Wine & dine

To see the stunning range of colors visit the Nyx website cheek contour duo's here .

I have the shade Wine & dine which is the darkest out of all choices. The blush is a wonderful cool toned deep pink and the contour is a lovely dark brown that is perfect for winter and gives a beautiful cool tone touch to the face when applied.

This is my everyday go to, I would chose it on top of any other blush or contour I have currently in my stash. Originally I thought I suited the lighter shades available but upon scoring this sample as a freebie at a Nyx launch I actually think that this type of cool tone shade suits me more than anything warm tone...at least at the moment.

I have very fair skin as you can probably notice in these pictures. So I do not use a lot in general of any blush or contour as I do not want to appear like a monster to people!

This is a very natural looking combo when applied to the face, It is very hard to muck it up. While I have maybe the darkest of shades in the range I feel this is perfect, really any of the other shades would be to! If I had to choose another duo for myself I would choose the two for tango, its a wonderful neutral shade of colors that I think would work well to give me a golden glow!

A bit about the company itself!
Nyx started in 1999 by the founder Toni Ko. Originally available to professionals at trade shows. Slowly being based in LA they managed to get into the makeup artist community and films and built up all the way to today. Nyx moved to Loreal in 2014 and are now stocked at all sorts of stores like target, ulta, farmers (NZ) Priceline (AUS). Not to mention all the online product available everywhere. While they have only launched in New Zealand and Australia in the last few months they have really made a big splash for us. I was finding it extremely hard to find what I wanted and stay in budget without shopping online and spending my life savings in shipping!

Something I love about Nyx is that they do not stay quiet on there upcoming products, they let us have plenty sneak peaks and opportunity to see whats on its way. Nyx has a great relationship with Bloggers and youtube professionals. They even go to the extent of bringing wonderful people like us all to come and have a little look at new products and give there honest opinion as the rest of us would to really bring out what we are wanting right now. Its a great way to have a quick test to see what pigment and payoff is like.

From what I have researched and observed I think Nyx focuses a lot more of the quality and affordability of there products rather than the packaging. While the packaging is still completely eye pleasing and so easy and functional at such a great cost you cannot expect everything to be high end and great! I do not know about you but I would 100% choose affordability and quality over packaging everyday.

Something I have really taken an interest in this year is the Face awards (Fine artistry of cosmetic Elites Awards) I would adore to be involved in this one day ( this little blogger can only dream!) . These awards started in 2012 and are extremely popular among the blogger and youtube community. And plus, if you have a look at it , it is a wonderful way to get great promotion from your brand! If you do not know much about it this is how it goes! This is an annual event. Youtubers and bloggers make content online with tutorials (and much more) using products in a unique way . There are rounds of challenges set by Nyx , at the end of it all an award show is held to give the winner a $25,000 prize. There are also 5 finalists who get $1,000 worth of Nyx products!

What we are seeing that is extremely hot right now from Nyx: So many colorful lipsticks! 2016 is really showing us a lot of colorful lips, blue, green...everything! There seems to be hundreds of shades expanded over different products out at the moment by Nyx.

Have you tried this duo palette? Do you have your favorite blush or contour that you must use everyday?

If you love Nyx like I do be sure to checkout my other reviews: Intense butter gloss , retractable lip liners , BB cream.

Also make sure to check out my Instagram , I post a lot of amazing products on there!

Well that is the lot of this week! Be sure to pop back next week for more! P.s I will have some truly amazing products coming up within the next few months!

Essence make me brow review

Happy Sunday everyone!

I have spent this weekend finally making some online purchases I have been meaning to place for months now but I get so confused by international shipping! Fingers crossed it gets here and then I can blog my experience!

This weeks post is on the Essence make me brow, my first ever eyebrow gel mascara. If you have followed my blog or Instagram you will already know my passion for adorable beauty products and my love for prettiness. I adore all things Essence. If you are new, welcome!

A bit about my skin : I have sensitive skin, I have found a good amount of beauty products that either break me out or cause some form of irritation. I love natural makeup that can be buildable when needed and my main focus is for things to be comfortable, functional and have great longevity. I will purchase makeup in mind of what I can use on a daily basis and wear to work.

Now for the makeup!

First a bit about Essence itself!

Essence cosmetics focus's on great quality into there products that are very budget friendly , what I love about this brand is that instead of focusing on ad campaigns they use there time and money into making great quality products that are made in Europe. I love that Essence also provides lists of there product ingredients. You can find the ingredient list online and if you are lucky enough to have an essence stand in your town they will also have a booklet there that you can check out for ingredients. A great way to find out if there is something specific that your body doesn't seem to like! They are also cruelty free, one very important thing.

I first purchased the blondy brows shade because I really do not like dark eyebrows on myself. I have naturally dark brown eyebrows that I have never liked! I find if they are shaded in to dark its to overpowering on my face. With eyebrow pencils I have always chosen dark blonde shades instead of a shade that directly matches my hair. While I currently use the Essence Dark blonde eyebrow pencil this blonde gel eyebrow mascara didn't work the same in my eyebrows. It worked in the sense of keeping my eyebrows in place but didn't work in any way to fill them.

Then I tried the browny brows shade. When I first put this on I got a bit of a fright as it was so so dark, more dark than anything I have used. After combing this through with the wand and not adding in extra product I really loved the way this looked.

I love this eyebrow mascara, it provides great natural looking color and helps give density and helps shapes the brows without the full brow effect. It has little fibers that help with patchy eyebrows and give you that little boost you need.

Of course this is not the best of swatches but to try get a smooth swatch with a mascara wand I think is near impossible!

This Essence make me brow helped to make my brows look less patchy but not filled in at all, if I am going from a natural look I would pick this compared to a full brow fill in look that I might go for if I was wearing foundation, rather than BB cream.

I purchased each of these for NZ $5.65 , compared to the other brands I have seen around I think this is a crazy good cost!

If you would like to visit the Essence website, click here. There are so many great products on there its very much worth a look. If you do not have Essence around make sure to check out kosmetik4less as they ship to a lot of places and have so many great budget brands.

Also feel free to check out my other posts on some other great Essence products. The nude eyeshadow palette & Long lasting lipstick .

Also make sure you check out my Instagram

That is all for this week wonderful people!

Rimmel wake me up concealer swatch & review

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today's blog post is on the Rimmel London wake me up concealer, this is to pair up with the Rimmel London wake me up foundation. I have done a review on that to, check it out here.

This concealers promise is to give full coverage that visibly reawakens and illuminates under the eyes. It is meant to conceal spots and blemishes, have an anti-fatigue effect and moisturising.

To see more about this Rimmel concealer follow the link here

I purchased mine for NZ$18.99, which I feel is a lot for a drug store brand, but if it works you totally would spend that for a wonderful product.

I find that this on me doesn't conceal my spots, at least using one layer. I have not tried using it more than once on a spot or blemish so that will be something to try one day. Hiding my blemishes doesn't fully concern me as I do not go for a full face of makeup . I just prefer to take out a bit of the redness and help even out my complexion.

I do find that my skin looks reawakened when using this product. I really do like that about this product. It really did interest me when purchasing this.

Compared to my natural skin on a day to day basis I feel that this does help provide an anti fatigue effect, which goes along with it being reawakened.

I think this concealer does do what it is promised. When it comes to its main promise of helping you look awakened and fresh for the day I feel it has that feature on top of all the other concealers on the market.

I get a lot of creasing under my eyes when using concealers. Its been a real battle to find a product that doesn't do that to me. So far this has helped. I believe my under eyes are dehydrated which is not helping with the creasing so this concealer is perfect for hydrating the area and not balling up during the day under the eyes.

As for if I would repurchase, I am very undecided. I feel it does help with those bad days when I look tired but it does not do what I need a concealer to do for me everyday.

I would purchase this to add with a more high coverage & moisturising concealer. Use it to highlight under my eyes and other parts of the face. I wouldn't chose it for if I am having a heavy breakout to cover.

Well that is it for tonight! See you all next week!

Also feel free to visit my Instagram, I post twice a day so its a very fun feed to see!

Have you tried this concealer? Or have a magic all in one concealer you use? I would love to hear if you have had wonderful concealer that has worked well for you.

LA girl Glow blush beauty brick

Hi all!

Today's post is on the LA girl glow blush beauty brick! Such a long title hehe.

So this 'beauty brick' is a great idea with a lot in it! There are four different variations in the beauty brick range, they are:

Glow
Pinky
Spice
Glam

Each brick contains two blush shades, a bronzer and a highlighter.

I chose the one 'glow' which is designed for people with fair to medium skin shade and for me I thought these colors looked the most functional to my skin tone. When searching I thought this is something I could see myself using everyday.

I got this from the LA girl Makeup NZ website, click here to view!

They do come off slightly powdery when swatched on the fingers but I find that sometimes the best products do that so I didn't want to judge the products just on that.

Once applied to the face these are wonderful. They are so well pigmented and the color that applys to the face is just so smooth and seamless.

I purchased mine for NZ $14.99 which I think is a great deal for what you get!

The highlighter is so pretty, its not high shine which is perfect and it gives off this great glow to the skin that does appear almost natural.

I feel I like the middle blush shade most out of the two options, I think its such a great color that compliments my skin!

There is not to much else to say other than this is a great product and at a wonderful price!

I would very much recommend this to anyone who is after something new ,especially with so many options.

Have you seen my Instagram, click here to view! I have a lot of mini review on there so make sure to check it out!

Have you tried the LA girl products? What do you think? Any questions do let me know!

NYX retractable lip liners - swatch & review

Happy weekend everyone!

Its so chilly here right now, we are right into winter with frosts and cold days! I am needing the heat pump and blankets all the time right now, brrrrr!

So today I am talking about some lip liners I got from the nyx stand when they had there launch in New Zealand. I have talked about this in my previous post on my review about there wonderful BB cream, check it out here!

There are 19 shades in this range and they cover such an amazing spectrum of everyday colours you would require for any situation.

I found that these lip liners are so creamy and make it so easy to create the perfect line that you desire so much when using liners. And the fact that they are a retractable pencil make them that much better, I would chose this type of lip liner as the perfect put in your bag essential beauty staple. No sharpener need, thank goodness!

I normally use these as a lip liner and pair it with one of my nyx intense lip gloss for the perfect hydrated look that lasts, another review coming your way for the swatches and impressions on those!

The colour payoff is fabulous, I would be able to use this either as just a lip liner or completely over the lip and it would not cause any type of drying or be uncomfortable for hours and hours, and still look just as colourful as when I applied it.

If you are on Instagram search the hashtag,  #nyxcosmetics , it will show you some more fabulous swatches and reviews on these!

The amazing range has the following colours

Black lips
Cocoa
Dark red
Hot pink
Jewel
Natural
Nector
Nude
Nude pink
Peony
Pinky Beige
Plum
Pretty in Pink
Red
Ruby
Sand Beige
Sienna
Soft Pink
Vanilla Sky

I purchased mine for NZ $12.95 each.

To find out more about the nyx retractable lip liners visit there website here

Nectar: This is my favorite all over colour that I like to use out of my selection. It is a perfect colour that gives my lips the perfect not over the top look I love day to day.

Nude Pink : I love this colour as a lip liner to pair with majority of my other lip products. Its a great general colour that works so well with the lip colour types I love to wear.

Natural: Although this colour is a lot more brown tone than what I like to wear this has actually been great. It doesn't look as brown tone on the lips once applied.

Overall I think that these are a must have for anyone. They are well priced, have a great range, and feel great on the lips . These wont break the bank and you will find yourself reaching for them constantly.

That is all for this week, make sure you come back next week for more great things!

Have you seen my Instagram? Check it out here

Do you have these in your collection? Id love to hear your favorites.
